(Special thanks to )Recommended Podcasts:Note that these podcasts are a mix of serial killers and general true crime. They aren’t.Since serial killers tend to target members of their own race, black killers kill.
Black people. And guess what? The American news media and a huge portion of the people to whom they advertise, don’t want to hear about black victims. They want to hear and read and watch Dateline episodes about pretty 20-yr old blonde victims. That’s what drives the Ad buys. That’s what drives the coverage and (in part) determines which killers you hear about and which you don’t. Then tell me who Mollie Tibetts is. Susan Powell.
The wife and two daughters in Colorado, Lacie Peterson, Maura Murray, Natalie fucking Holloway, etc, etc. The press gets a hard-on for missing pretty white women that NO ONE ELSE (including white men) gets.Of course, once Dahlmer was caught, we’d be talking about it regardless of his race. But you missed the entire point.
It’s not about the killer’s race after he’s discovered- it’s about the race of the victim while they’re only labeled as missing. We won’t have to talk about racial inequalities once they stop being a thing. AND even when they are no longer “a thing” it’ll still apply to historical cases like Dahlmers.Save your “identity politics” bitching for. “Triggered?” By you? I guess it was a good try. You’re just not really witty enough or mean enough to trigger me. But keep at it buddy, some day you’ll be the Internet badass you think you are.As for the Ridgway case, ummm the victims where well publicized before he was caught- hence the whole unknown “Green River Killer” moniker- thus proving my point. You’re really not very good at this. You should go back to Twitter and practice some more.
Then- when you’re at least reading and writing at a jr. High level- you can come back and try again.
1) common knowledge does not equal correct. Myths are also “common knowledge”2) the number of black serial killers vs white are roughly the same when accounting for population differences.
Minor variations are likely attributed to a) poverty levels relative to the overall population and b) disparity in resources investment in investigations (ie poor black folks dying don’t get the same amount of money and effort from investigators as they will put into searching for the killers of white victims).

(Special thanks to )Recommended Podcasts:Note that these podcasts are a mix of serial killers and general true crime. Most well known captured serial killers in the US are white males. That isn't the same thing as saying most serial killers are white males. At one time a lot of people thought serial killers were an almost completely American phenomenon. It turns out we were just the first country who tracked murders and disappearances carefully enough to start finding them.At one time it was thought almost all serial killers are men, but we have started learning that female serial killers are out there, but they tend to be harder to catch. For one, women seem to get off on the power of life and death more than the specific method of killing, so they usually choose hard to catch ways of killing.
Find a hacked up body in the woods you call the cops, find a dead elderly person in a nursing home with no marks on them you just call the meatwagon. Black widow killers and Munchausen by proxy killers are also hard to catch because they work hard to mask the fact they are committing murder, but as we learn more about them we are getting better at detecting patterns and smoking them out.Non white serial killers used to be thought very rare, but we are seeing more of them too. Part of this is demographics. When the US was 80% white you could expect at least 80% of serial killers to be white. Another factor is the victims. Some victims are more likely to be investigated than others: this is why hooker killers usually have higher death counts than sorority girl killers: sorority girls are missed and looked for quickly.
Most serial killers work in their own race, and since black and brown girls and boys aren't looked for as hard as white ones they are more likely to slip through the cracks. Undocumented women and boys make easy marks too, because who even knows another migrant is missing, much less goes looking for them?I suspect as police get better at tracking other races, and work harder at looking for them, and hot spots for female serial killers are tracked more carefully we will find they are every bit as prevalent as the white males. White males are just the first wave to be tracked carefully and captured, mainly because their crimes are so spectacular (hacking up a dozen young girls and leaving them out for the cops to find is always going to get you noticed, after all).
Most serial killers work in their own race, and since black and brown girls and boys aren't looked for as hard as white ones they are more likely to slip through the cracks.Do you mean this on a general level or more so people who are lower on the socioeconomic scale? It's not too often that middle class or upper middle class people of non white persuasion go missing let alone white people. Black people or hispanics living in the ghetto I can understand your point and generally speaking there are more black people lower on the socioeconomic scale so the patterns wouldn't be picked up as quickly as white sorority girls. Second, there are more white killers just because of the larger proportion of white people, as stated by the FBI the proportion among races is fairly evenly distributed so you will always find more white victims. I think you are missing my point a bit.
Women aren't as directly violent, but that doesn't mean they don't kill. Women who are serial killers are more likely to use indirect methods than men, poison instead of a knife, for instance. This masks their activity much better and makes it harder for authorities to realize they are active. Dead body killed by poison won't raise suspicion unless a thorough autopsy is performed, and in cases where the victim is already elderly or sick usually that won't be the case. Dead body full of knife wounds or bruises from strangulation and a homicide detective is immediately brought in.
Because men kill in aggressive/violent ways they are much more obvious, this doesn't mean women aren't killing, so far the ones caught seem to show they are just a lot more subtle about it. Right now a lot more male serial killers have been caught, but the trend over time is to find more women, I see no reason this won't eventually even out. Your idea is incredibly ill-conceived though. Seriously, what research are you talking about? Men make up the vast majority of serial killers and I don't know how you could be led to believe otherwise if you've read anything on the subject. Since 1970, serial killers have become more prevalent as a whole, but women haven't really taken up any more of that pie. I can't even think of a female serial killer from the 70s, can you?
Hell, apart from Aileen Wuornos, most of the female killers you hear about are from before the 1900s. Why are you assuming my idea is incredibly ill-conceived just because it presents a theory you aren't familiar with? I know this is just a guess, but I think it's safe to say you don't have godlike powers to absorb and recall all human knowledge. You may be surprised to find out something new once or twice in your life, in other words. Here are a couple of articles you may find of interest. Nothing definitive in them, of course, we are still learning about how women kill and how to track the serial killers among them. If you think about it, it makes sense.
USA:Europe - 47 countries, and we do not have a common database for all murders comitted - we have the international Interpol which is for those already on the run - i.e. If someone has comitted a murder in Sweden, one in Denmark and one in Germany, nobody would notice anything, since they are 'just' murders. They would not show up in any database since they are stand-alones in each their country.USA - 1 country, a lot of murders - A lot easier to find out if two states have had a similar murder - and a lot easier to have a database with murder cases, even if they are 'just' one case. Women are less likely to be serial killers. That alone is easily explained by hormonal differences (e.g. Testosterone tends to increase aggression). The rest is really just a combination of the media reporting less on serial killers, and the general demographics of the US.
More whites = more white serial killers = hearing about more white serial killers.Check 'Racial and Ethnic Demographics of the United States (Percentages) Between 1910 and 2010' here:And keep in mind that 'Hispanic' isn't a race, so when they say 'white', many of those included are also Hispanic (especially as you approach 2010).
